Not every collectible, product, or display item fits inside a standard-size acrylic case. Some items are unusually shaped, oversized, vintage, handmade, or simply different from the products commonly found on store shelves.
That is where a custom acrylic display case can help.
At Aegis Acrylic, we create made-to-fit acrylic cases for collectibles, sealed products, retail boxes, display pieces, business items, and other objects that need a specific size. Whether you need one case for a personal collection or several cases for a store, event, or business display, the first step is sending us the details of your project.
What Can Be Made into a Custom Acrylic Case?
Custom acrylic cases can be made for many different types of items, including:
- Trading card products and sealed collectible boxes
- Sports memorabilia
- Baseball caps and other mounted displays
- Figures, statues, and model kits
- Vintage toys and product packaging
- Jewelry and retail displays
- Electronics, prototypes, and business products
- Awards, keepsakes, and unusual-size collectibles
- Replacement acrylic covers for wooden display bases
If your item does not fit one of our standard cases, that does not necessarily mean we cannot make something for it. Send us the measurements and a few details, and we can review the project.
Start with the Item’s Measurements
The most important part of requesting a custom acrylic case is providing accurate measurements.
Measure the actual outside dimensions of the item you want to place inside the case. Unless instructed otherwise, provide the measurements in the following order:
Width × Height × Depth
For example:
8 inches wide × 6 inches high × 4 inches deep
You can send measurements in inches or millimeters. Measurements made with a ruler may be sufficient for larger items, while calipers can be helpful for smaller products that require a closer fit.
When measuring, remember to include:
- Plastic wrapping or protective packaging
- Protruding handles, tabs, hinges, or accessories
- Display stands or mounting hardware
- Any additional room needed to easily insert and remove the item
Do not estimate the size of the finished acrylic case. Send us the dimensions of the item itself, and we can determine the appropriate case dimensions and clearance.
How Much Extra Space Should the Case Have?
A case should usually be slightly larger than the object it protects. If the inside dimensions are exactly the same as the item, the fit may be too tight.
A small amount of clearance makes it easier to place the item inside the case without scraping the collectible or putting pressure on its packaging.
Some customers prefer a close, fitted appearance. Others want additional room around the object for a display stand, lighting, a plaque, or easier access.
When requesting a quote, tell us whether you want:
- A close fit

- A small amount of standard clearance
- A specific amount of extra room
- Space for mounting hardware or a display base
If you already know the exact internal dimensions you need, you may provide those instead. Be sure to clearly state that the measurements are the required inside dimensions.
Send Photos Whenever Possible
Photos can answer questions that measurements alone cannot.
A few clear pictures can help us understand the shape of the item, how it will sit inside the case, and whether there are any unusual features that need to be considered.
Helpful photos include:
- The front, side, and top of the item
- The item beside a ruler or tape measure
- The display base, if one will be used
- Any existing case that needs to be replaced
- A sketch showing the preferred design
- The location where the case will be displayed
You do not need professional product photography. Clear phone pictures are usually enough.
Tell Us How You Want the Case to Work
There are several ways a custom acrylic case may be designed. Before requesting a quote, consider how you plan to use it.
Let us know whether you need:
- A fully enclosed display case
- A removable acrylic cover
- A four-sided cover with no bottom
- A case designed to sit on a wood or acrylic base
- A removable top or lid
- A flat-pack case that can be assembled after delivery
- Openings for cables, controls, ventilation, or mounting hardware
- Multiple identical cases for a store or business
You should also mention whether the case will be frequently opened or mainly used as a permanent display.
The more information you provide at the beginning, the easier it is to recommend a practical design.
How to Request a Custom Acrylic Case Quote
When contacting Aegis Acrylic, include the following information:
- The width, height, and depth of the item
- Whether those measurements are item dimensions or required inside dimensions
- The type of item being displayed
- The number of cases needed
- Whether the case needs a bottom
- How you want the case to open or be removed
- Any preferred clearance around the item
- Photos, sketches, or reference images
- Your shipping ZIP code, when requested
A good quote request might look like this:
I need two clear acrylic covers for two baseball caps. Each cover will sit on a wooden display base and should have four sides and a top, with no acrylic bottom. The item dimensions are approximately 9 inches wide, 7 inches high, and 11 inches deep. I have attached photos of the caps and the bases.
This gives us enough information to begin reviewing the project and ask any necessary follow-up questions.
What Happens After You Request a Quote?
Once we receive your request, we will review the measurements, design requirements, material needs, and quantity.
Depending on the project, we may:
- Confirm the measurements
- Recommend additional clearance
- Ask for another photo or dimension
- Clarify whether the case requires a base or removable cover
- Discuss acrylic thickness or assembly options
- Provide pricing and shipping information
For unusual or complicated projects, a simple sketch may be created before production so everyone understands how the case will be constructed.
Production should not begin until the measurements, design, and price have been confirmed.
How Is Custom Case Pricing Determined?
Custom acrylic case pricing depends on more than the size of the finished case.
The quote may be affected by:
- Overall width, height, and depth
- Acrylic thickness
- Amount of material required
- Number of panels and components
- Openings, cutouts, or special features
- Assembly method
- Quantity ordered
- Packaging and shipping requirements
Larger cases require more acrylic and may also need thicker material for additional strength. Shipping can also be a significant factor for oversized cases because acrylic must be packaged carefully.
Ordering multiple identical cases may reduce the per-case production cost because the same design and cutting setup can be used more than once.
Double-Check Your Measurements
Custom acrylic cases are made specifically for the dimensions provided by the customer. Because of this, it is important to measure carefully and verify every dimension before approving the order.
A few tips before submitting your measurements:
- Measure each dimension more than once
- Clearly label width, height, and depth
- Do not assume the object is perfectly square
- Measure the widest and tallest points
- Include packaging, stands, or accessories
- Confirm whether your measurements are internal or external
- Ask questions before approving the final design
Custom orders are generally final sale unless there is a defect, production error, or another issue with the completed case.
Custom Acrylic Cases for Collectors and Businesses
Custom cases are not only for personal collections.
Acrylic covers and enclosures can also be used by:
- Card shops
- Record stores
- Museums and galleries
- Retail stores
- Jewelry businesses
- Event vendors
- Manufacturers
- Schools and organizations
- Sports memorabilia sellers
- Product designers and prototype builders
Businesses can request one prototype, a small production run, or multiple identical cases for retail and display use.
