Acrylic Thickness Affects the Price
Another major consideration is acrylic thickness.

Shield — 3mm Acrylic
Shield is the lighter and more economical option.
For many collectibles, sealed TCG products, figures, memorabilia, smaller models, and everyday displays, 3mm acrylic provides a clean enclosure without adding unnecessary material or weight.
Aegis — 6mm Acrylic
Aegis uses substantially thicker acrylic for a heavier and more rigid display.
The additional material gives the enclosure a more substantial feel and can be especially appealing for premium collections, larger displays, and centerpiece pieces.
Because 6mm acrylic uses more material, it will generally cost more than an otherwise identical 3mm case.

Why Does a Custom Case Cost More Than a Standard Case?
Standard acrylic cases can be produced repeatedly at exactly the same dimensions.
Custom fabrication solves a different problem.
Instead of asking:
"Which available case is closest to the size I need?"
you can have a case made around the measurements of your actual item.
That can be particularly useful for:

Is Thicker Acrylic Always Worth the Extra Cost?

6mm acrylic is thicker than 3mm acrylic, but that does not automatically make it the right choice for every project.
For a small or medium-sized collectible, Shield 3mm may provide exactly the type of presentation you want at a lower cost.
Aegis 6mm makes more sense when you specifically want additional rigidity, weight, or a more substantial premium appearance.
The goal should not be to purchase the thickest acrylic possible.
It should be to choose the acrylic that makes sense for the display.

Start by measuring the actual outside dimensions of the item:
Width × Height × Depth
